The Warriors fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 16-5 loss to Reading on Tuesday. Reading took the lead on a single in the first inning.
The Warriors struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Reading, giving up 16 runs.
Reading opened up scoring in the first inning, when Hess singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
The Warriors tallied three runs in the fourth inning. Warriors batters contributing to the big inning included Nicolas Haynes, Anthony Arias, and Ernest Wolke, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Reading scored eight runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught by Reading was led by Piron, Furniss, Ellis, Androne, and Baker, who each had RBIs in the inning.
Mekhi Lynn was on the mound for Warriors. He went two and a third innings, allowing nine runs on six hits and striking out three. Tyson Carter and De’Ron Young entered the game as relief, throwing two innings and one and two-thirds innings respectively.
